For the second consecutive year, a Francis Howell North High School journalism student has won the same national award.
Ryan Firle, 17, won the 2009 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for high school print excellence, said Howell North journalism teacher Aaron Manfull. Firle, a junior, will accept the award in May during a conference in Arlington, Va. The school will receive $1,000.
One of Manfull’s former students, graduate David Joseph “D.J.” Shewmaker, won the award last year.
