Jim Williams, who led the St. Charles High School varsity football team to a state championship in 1982, died Saturday at 60. He had a rare form of adrenal cancer.
Williams worked for 30 years in the St. Charles School District as a Driver’s Education and Physical Education teacher. He was the assistant sophomore football coach for one year before he was promoted to assistant varsity coach in 1975. He was the head varsity coach for St. Charles High School from 1979 to 1995.
William’s was honored by the Foundation for the School District for Inspiring Students to Set and Achieve High Goals in 2005. In the fall of 2008, the school district named the field at St. Charles High School football stadium for Jim Williams.
Williams’ daughter, Julie Williams, is principal at Lincoln Elementary School.
A visitation was scheduled for Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, 620 Jefferson St.
The service was scheduled 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 2705 Zumbehl Road in St. Charles.
